Howard Judson Ten Eyck, my father, was a man of strong faith and dedicated his life to stewardship and to the service of others. Born in Long Island, NY and living on a small family farm he learned these values. As a young man, Howard worked long days farming to produce products that supported the local nursing home. While rewarding work, he felt a different calling and at the age of 21 became a New York State Trooper working his way up to detective and retiring after 13 years. Howard had a fascinating career performing undercover work infiltrating organized crime. One of his noted cases was the famous Apalachin Raid in 1957. A national gathering of the Cosa Nostra drew in 100 mafiosi from the United States, Italy and Cuba. He was the ONLY uniformed officer who secured a conviction. Howard additionally worked with the U.S. Secret Service on the protection detail for First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

After years of visiting friends and family in Florida, Howard decided, in 1973, to relocate his family to St. Petersburg. It was here that my father pursued a new career in the financial services industry, with an initial focus on life insurance. Always a believer in the power of education he became one of the original certificate holders of the Certified Financial Planner designation earning certificate #464.

Fast forward to 1987 when I was a twenty-one-year-old manager of a local grocery store chain. My father shared with me his vision of an all-encompassing financial services provider for clients. His view was one where anyone and everyone not only deserved to but could benefit from working with a financial planner. Partnering to make this vision a reality, I began my licensing in real estate and a year later became a real estate broker. We quickly added life and health insurance, variable products, mortgage brokerage, advanced investment licensing and, in 1994 I completed the Certified Financial Planner designation. After just four years we added tax services to the business and the foundation of the vision was complete.

Today, my daughter Abbie, a USF graduate, works alongside me as we continue our commitment to client service and stewardship of their trust. For over 35 years Ten Eyck Financial Services Group has been proud of the work we do for our clients and continues to offer investment services along with a broad palette of financial planning advice. These include corporate and personal tax preparation, payroll and accounting services, residential lending, and corporate and residential real estate services.
